SMRCOC & K-9’s for Warriors are proud to announce the purchase of PTSD trained service dog “Dayton”

by | Mar 7, 2022

We couldn’t be more grateful for moments like these that help to raise awareness for our program and mission and for the support from people like you who help us to get it done right for our deserving veterans.  Dayton is at number 90 as of March 2022 on our sponsorship waitlist.  Thank you for this lifesaving gift.

With appreciation,

Julia Maxton, SMRCOC President

The South Metro Regional Chamber of Commerce and K-9’s for Warriors are proud to announce the purchase of PTSD trained service dog “Dayton” for $25,000.00.

The dog is named in honor of those who fell in the mass Oregon District Shooting on August 4, 2019.

The SMRCOC began the project in October 2019 with a free presentation by Army Captain Louie Bell and his K-9 Warrior dog, “Star”, at Sinclair College South auditorium.

Award winning video “PTSD Invisible Wound” filmed by Miami Valley Communications Council of this presentation is regularly programmed by the MVCC on channel 5.

Covid stopped the fundraiser for nearly a year, but funds came in regularly from individual donors.

All donations are handled by Farmers and Merchants Bank.  Soon a rescued dog will be selected to enter training, as will a Warrior with PTSD at the K9s For Warriors, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. A specific process will find and match the perfect pair for life.

Congratulants to The Chamber, K-9’s for Warriors, Farmers and Merchants Bank, and all the donors who made this project possible.
